Crushed by poverty and haunted by the fear of losing another child after a past miscarriage, Phu and his pregnant wife Thao are pushed to the brink when Phu's bedridden mother, Mrs. Thuan, dies because they cannot afford her treatment.
Desperate for hope, Thao follows the advice of Mrs. Tanh, a neighbour who practices spiritual rituals and performs a ceremony to invite a wandering spirit into their home as a guardian ghost, believing it will protect both the house and her unborn baby. But when the entity lurking in the corner of the house begins to demands a terrifying price, Thao realises too late that the thing she welcomed in to save her family is actually a nightmare with no escape.
